Refund Policy
Refund & Cancellation Policy
Prime Auto Driving School
Last updated: August 2026
At Prime Auto Driving School, we understand that plans can change. Our refund and cancellation policy is designed to be fair to our pupils while also protecting the lesson time reserved by our instructors.
By booking a driving lesson, you agree to the terms below.
1. Cancelling or Rearranging a Driving Lesson
We require a minimum of 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a driving lesson.
Where at least 48 hours' notice is provided:
-
The lesson may be rearranged to another suitable date and time.
-
If you do not wish to rearrange, any payment made in advance for that lesson will be refunded.
-
No cancellation charge will apply.
2. Cancellations With Less Than 48 Hours' Notice
If a lesson is cancelled or rearranged with less than 48 hours' notice, the full lesson fee may be charged.
This is because the instructor has reserved that time specifically for you and, at short notice, may be unable to offer the appointment to another pupil.
This includes:
-
Late cancellations
-
Failure to attend a lesson
-
Forgetting a lesson
-
Being unavailable at the agreed collection point
-
Arriving too late for the lesson to be reasonably completed
Where appropriate, the instructor may use their discretion in exceptional circumstances.
3. No-Show Policy
If a pupil does not attend a booked lesson and has not provided the required notice, the lesson will normally be treated as a late cancellation and the full lesson fee will be payable.
If the instructor has arrived at the agreed collection point and the pupil is not available, the same policy applies.
4. Lateness
Pupils are expected to be ready at the agreed collection point at the booked time.
If a pupil arrives late, the lesson will normally still finish at the originally agreed time. Lost lesson time caused by pupil lateness will not normally be added to the end of the lesson or refunded.
If a pupil is more than 15 minutes late without contacting the instructor, the lesson may be treated as a no-show.
5. Refunds for Unused Prepaid Lessons
If you decide to stop taking lessons with Prime Auto Driving School, you may request a refund for unused prepaid lessons, subject to the terms of this policy and any applicable statutory consumer rights.
Lessons that have already been completed are not refundable.
Where a refund is due, it will normally be calculated based on the lessons remaining.
6. Block Bookings and Discounted Packages
Where lessons have been purchased as part of a discounted block booking or special offer, any refund may be recalculated to take account of the standard lesson price for lessons already completed.
For example, if a discount was offered on the basis of purchasing 10 lessons and the pupil subsequently requests a refund after completing some of those lessons, the lessons already taken may be charged at the applicable standard rate rather than the discounted block rate.
Any remaining eligible balance will then be refunded.
This prevents a pupil from receiving the benefit of a block-booking discount without completing the required booking.
7. Expiry of Prepaid Lessons
Prepaid lesson packages should normally be used within 6 months of purchase, unless Prime Auto Driving School agrees otherwise in writing.
We will try to accommodate pupils where circumstances have prevented lessons from being completed within this period, particularly where there are genuine exceptional circumstances.
8. If Prime Auto Driving School Cancels a Lesson
Occasionally, an instructor may need to cancel or rearrange a lesson because of circumstances such as:
-
Illness
-
Vehicle problems
-
An accident or breakdown
-
Unsafe weather or road conditions
-
A driving test or other unavoidable circumstance
-
Other circumstances outside the instructor's reasonable control
Where Prime Auto cancels a lesson, the pupil will not be charged for the cancelled lesson.
The lesson will normally be rearranged at the earliest mutually convenient opportunity.
If the pupil does not wish to rearrange and a refund is due, any payment made for the cancelled lesson will be refunded.
9. Vehicle or Safety Issues
An instructor may postpone or end a lesson where they reasonably believe that continuing would be unsafe.
This may include circumstances involving:
-
Dangerous weather or road conditions
-
An unsafe or unsuitable vehicle
-
The pupil being medically or physically unable to drive safely
-
The pupil being under the influence of alcohol or drugs
-
Any other situation creating a significant safety risk
Where the situation is caused by circumstances outside the pupil's control, Prime Auto will seek to rearrange the affected lesson fairly.
10. Driving Tests
Driving test fees paid to the DVSA are separate from Prime Auto Driving School lesson fees.
Pupils are responsible for cancelling or changing their own driving test appointment in accordance with DVSA requirements.
Prime Auto Driving School cannot guarantee a refund of a DVSA test fee where insufficient notice has been provided.
11. Statutory Consumer Rights
Nothing in this policy is intended to remove or restrict any legal rights that you have as a consumer.
Where a statutory right to cancel or receive a refund applies, that right will take precedence over this policy.
Where lessons are booked online, statutory cancellation rights may apply. If you request that driving tuition begins during a statutory cancellation period, the amount refundable may be affected by the services already provided.
12. How to Request a Refund
Refund requests should be made by contacting Prime Auto Driving School using the contact details provided on our website.
Please include:
-
Your full name
-
Your instructor's name
-
The date of your last lesson
-
Details of any unused prepaid lessons
-
Your preferred method of contact
We will review the request and confirm whether a refund is due.
Where a refund is approved, we will normally process it using the original payment method where reasonably possible.
13. Exceptional Circumstances
We understand that genuine emergencies can happen.
Prime Auto Driving School may, at its reasonable discretion, waive a cancellation charge where there are exceptional circumstances such as serious illness, bereavement or another significant unforeseen event.
Evidence may be requested where appropriate.
This discretion is intended to allow us to deal fairly with genuine circumstances and does not create an automatic entitlement to a refund.
14. Fairness and Changes to This Policy
Prime Auto Driving School aims to operate a fair and transparent cancellation and refund policy.
We will not use this policy to remove or restrict statutory consumer rights.
We may update this policy from time to time where necessary to reflect changes to our services, business practices or applicable legislation.
The version displayed on our website will be the current version.
